Carbon engine lid for 964?

Have not been able to find one so far... is there one that uses the standard pop up spoiler and mechanism? so exactly like standard but using carbon?

You can try @ FVD, Cargraphic or Bühler Kunststofftechnik

did you try Getty design in US, I remember seeing those on their website, you think there is substantial weight saving there ?

I'm not sure but there must be a bit of a saving and all options have to be explored at the back of the car since it is so hard to get weight off there.

A better saving would undoubtedly be to use a ducktail but I'm now no longer so sure about having one of these on my 964... they look good on retro cars but dont think it will work on mine.

You're right! Getty do have them.. would rather source locally if possible.. postage and import tax would make buying from them rather expensive. But it is an option..

That would be great, it is to fit a 964?

Check this out... LINK - some great info on weight savings...

The steel decklid is 10lbs, and the moveable wing and motor is 14lbs, so replacing the decklid w/carbon but retaining the wing will probably only net (guessing) 5lbs, whereas replacing the motor and wing also, would be far more impactful. I would guess without doing all the research, that a carbon tail (duck or RSA rep) is about 10 lbs so it's roughly 3x the weight savings. Just a plain lid would be even more, but have no lift-reduction qualities.

Just my 2cents! Good luck!

Yes its a 964 lid that is no longer needed - I have pointed him to this thread so hopefully he will give you a shout.

just realized I didn't include the link in my first post... I'll update it - great thread on the weights of EVERYTHING...

I can attest to the weight savings of a good FG tail, and I'm a little biased on the duck

Just fix the spoiler in the up position and ditch the motor!
