Carbon bonnet -fit
Hey guys,
Have found a carbon bonnet second hand, however I have seen it and the fit is not great. On the right hand side it looks like it is not properly touching down on the front of the drunk seal. How much adjustment is there when fitting? If it sits like that on his (very straight) car then will it do the same on mine? Does it mean it is warped?

Ah, pesky drunk seals!!
If it's the same as mine then they do have left / right adjustment on the hinges but this is more to align the panel gap. you can mess around with the latch & rubber stops at the front as well.
How much are we talking about?
I've found with fibreglass panels they can fit nicely with no latches or struts attached but when you have the standard latches & struts instead of maybe bonnet pins then they can get cocked over if you know what I mean.
Got any photos?

Just unscrew them and bolt the pins in place through the hole
Then align the bonnet and drill your holes

Thanks guys, sounds good and will allow me to eliminate the lock potentially. Is there a particular type/length hood pin in need to get or are they universal fitment?

Jack,
The standard pins are pretty much the same, whoever makes them, unless you buy Porsche ones from FVD where they are about 6 times the price of OMP
Personally I dont think Aerocatches look right on our cars, they are too modern, and more difficult to fit
My FG bonnet came from a 993 racecar, and had Aerocatches previously, I changed it to pins
These are about as close to the period factory fit ones you can get without paying FVDs stupid prices

This is the FVD piece(and the cost is per pin, not a pair)

What do you think of these guys? Not quite same as the imps but those don't come in black.. I think these wont stand out quite as much? Bonnet is currently painted black and will probably stay that way for time being.

I have no doubt they will do a good job securing the bonnet, but personally I dont like the look, though as you say they will blend in to a black bonnet well

Here you go with a photo... Let me know if you need close ups
I tend to cover the aero catches with black gorilla tape to try to stop some of the water getting through which it does do... In the pic, the left catch still has the gorilla tape on but I've taken it off the right catch to give you a comparison...
