Default DIY horn replacement

This one is pretty simple but its nice for others facing the same task to have clear photos of the area.

The stock 964 with alarm has 3 horns. A low tone horn, a high tone horn, and the alarm horn. My PPI mechanic on my C2 told me my low tone horn sounded dead. I was able to quickly determine it was out of adjustment. I was never able to fix it properly so I just replaced it with a new one. A good horn troubleshooting guide is here:

Pictures below show how to access and service the area.

thanks for the p-car link - worked a treat - just need a multimeter to find where the continuity is broken
this pic is of the inside of the hooter with the spring/mechanism removed ... each solder spot shd have cont with all the others...
if not, that's where you look more. tricky thing is i had cont at the left side of the bottom right solder, but not further right at the spring so obviously the break was underneath.

RL rules again!

I've been wanting to install some Hella Supertones on mine. I have a set on my daily driver and I love them, stupid loud, and usually gets stupid drivers to pay attention.

I installed a set of twin air horns last year. I had to make a simple bracket to hold them but finally the 964 has the horn that it deserves and in Italy the louder the better!!

Did you ever install these? Were you able to use the factory mounting brackets? I understand that there is also a relay included. Did you use that as well? How do you like them if you did install them?

Hi mnmlod, I got your PM. I have not installed upgraded horns on my car. It's still on the wishlist.
