Hi,
It's accepted that because of 50 years of constant development the 911 engine bay has got busier over the years to accomodate increased performance and emmission regulations.
However things can be changed if you feel the need. Here's my 3.8 litre (964) with PMO ITB's, ITG's, carbon shroud (which you can't quite see) etc.
The next job for October is to replace the two ugly AC pipes with alloys tubes and reroute them around the engine bay to connect up with existing alloy pipes at the back. Followed by fitting a single 12 point distributor.
Cheers,
Paul

While I admire the clean engine bay...
I prefer the complicated look... The best part is that I can explain what it does (in basic terms) while pointing at parts you can actually see.
Hats off to functional engineering... Keep all the design resources for the places it actually matters (to me).

Very nice. However, in the car an air cooled 911 motor is just not going to be that attractive outside of some very trick accessories and the intake system. The fan shroud covering the motor as it does ruins the party in terms of being able to see any part of the heads and/or block.

However, for your info, that engine doesn't just have a few trick accessories/intake system, it's a 3.8 handbuilt, balanced and blue-printed 350bhp (est. - dyno after run in) motor.

Paul

It's an air/oil-cooled engine, it's going to have a fan shroud, it has it's own unique merits. If you don't like them though, there's nothing I can say which will make you change your mind.

Let us know how that a/c line reconfiguration project goes. I was studying them last night and it kinda sucks because the hardlines that come out the left side have a sharp bent toward the front at around the intake area. If you want to route them through the back then you're going to have to take it 180 degrees at where the the hardline ends or you're going to have to modify the hardline so that it continues straight across the rear of the engine.
