If there is no cold air you probably have a freon leak. My '90 had leaks at the compressor motor and at the expansion block.

You can see the compressor clutch engage in the back of the compressor. You can also hear it engage with a click, cycling on and off if everything works.

No cold air probably is due to a A/C leak. No air flow at all with fans running probably means one or more inert HVAC servos. Have a look here:

Assuming it is a leak a leak test will identify the location of the problem. Another likely suspect is the evaporator which is a fairly lengthy process to R&R.

I've given up on my A/C.

I had the valve/seal/thingys replaced to use the new/safe gas, had a leak test done, had cold air for 1 season, then no cold air after that.

Now I just wind down the windows or open the sunroof, and dont drive it on hot days...

Did you checked that you a/c fan is working? It is located in front part of dr side fender. You can hear it and also feel air coming out of the vent below it.

If not working it maybe fan resistor - they do get bad.

If the compressor clutch is not engaging (spinning) likely cause is too low pressure of refrig. If you are sure that there is no freon left in the system, i.e., it all leaked out, you may want to consider what I did - using a 134a substitute to recharge through the low side port. What I used is hydrocarbon (butane) based so if it leaks out fast or even slowly it won't harm the ozone layer. My AC has been blowing cold since I recharged it. I didn't want to go through the process of converting the system to take 134a (and have it still leak) and I didn't want to put freon 12 in a system that might leak (which I think is illegal). There are some pros/cons on these freon substitutes so I suggest do some forum/google research. But it worked for me.
