As Rob says, instructions come with it, but if you want a pre-read, there's a thread on Pelican here

Nice work Rob; collected my lash adjustment tool a couple of months ago when I happened to be over in the US on business; got it sent to hotel and saved the (almost equal value) shipping cost! Not used mine yet though, will perhaps re-check my valves this weekend.

Yeah, the postage and import duty sucks!
I made a start on the exhaust valves lastnight. Didn't have much time so only did the left bank. The good news is I found what I went in there looking for. A noisy No1 exhaust valve! The gap was somewhere near 0.18mm instead of 0.1. I could hear it when everything was up to temp and positive it was comming from the lower left bank. No2 was loose too, but not to that degree. I'll check the right exhaust bank tonight.

Straight off the mould and following a rough cut. I finally got round to making the rear halves of the rear wheel arch liners
I made a template from card that I curved and bent to fit perfectly before transferring it to 1.2mm aluminium and again curved/tapped/bent to fit. I then used this as a mould for a carbon wet lay-up.
I think I've made them stronger than they really need to be with 2 layers of carbon twill each side of a Kevlar twill (5 layers in total). 3 layers in total would probably be fine.

The piece on the left is for the rear right and the piece on the right is for the rear left arch
I'll post some more pics once they're properly shaped up and again when fitted.

Thumbs up

I am so glad that I procrastinated on buying the, at the time, revised clutch fork...

Since the transmission in my car needs to come out I was going to replace it. Very useful information. Thank you!!

Haha... I get a lot of PMs along those lines. Quite simply when I retire, or I think there is sufficient demand so that I can retire

My local Tech Shop has an intro to carbon fiber parts class. I just don't have the time! Great to see someone else giving it a shot.

^^ You should go along. Even if you don't have the time to actually do it yourself at the moment. It may seed a thought for later

The next big part I'll make is the front oil cooler tray/mount. With the obvious exceptions (mechanicals/suspension), its the only remaining part under the car thats made of steel. All other brackets, hatches and panels have been replaced with carbon.

I fancy having a go at head light rings too but they'll need to be vac bagged.

One day, a boot lid and rear bumper quarters (don't need the centre piece as I have a cult werkz item that weighs nothing already)

There's a guy in the Westfield community who by trade is a carpenter, but some years ago turned his hand to making carbon pieces for himself, then the Westie community in a small-profit way. He ended up contracting for the likes of Lola and some of the F1 teams, his stuff was *that* good (he even made a couple of whole Westfield body kits including the tubs, although Westfield themselves got a tad grumpy and I believe, threatened action).

I've been to Le Mans Classic with him and his wife a few times, great couple....describing his home setup, he managed to acquire an old tyre remoulding system, and with some modifications, turned that into his autoclave for the vac-packed items.....He even ended up making a whole bell housing to interface his Honda S2000 engine -> sequential gearbox in the latest sprint/hillclimb race car he was building.

Rob, i just read Novembers 911 and Porsche Worlds article on the Specialist Components Management kit. It reviewed pretty well. I think Johnny Tippler is going to have one installed on the Peppermint Pig. Have you read it? Now that you've had some time with it whats your longer term feeling on how it works?
