Default Happy 50 Mr. 911, let's celebrate with a windshield banner

I was looking at the Porsche 50 years logo the other day and thought...

Wouldn't it have been great if Porsche would have made available (free of course) a windshield banner celebrating 50 years of the 911? Something we could all put on our cars for this special year.

Seeing the same "50 years" banner on every 911, regardless of year of generation, would really be a sight, and drive home how iconic and enduring the 911 concept is.

Longhoods, impact bumpers, 964s, 991s... everybody.

Porsche, are you listening?

That is a seriously cool idea.
But... am I alone in thinking that it is a year early for the 50th celebration? I mean really '65 was the first model year of the 911, and I didn't think the car was really finalized until '64.

I was wondering about the math also? Hey, it's never polite to talk abut someone's age...

from Porsche.com (link)

For five decades, the 911 has been the heart of the Porsche brand. Few other automobiles in the world can look back on such a long tradition and with such genuine continuity as the Porsche 911. It has been inspiring car enthusiasts the world over since its debut as the Type 901 at the IAA International Automotive Show in September 1963.

...For Porsche, the 50th anniversary of this iconic sports car is the central theme of 2013. There will be a wide variety of anniversary events, starting with the “Retro Classics” automobile show in Stuttgart. From March 7-10 the Porsche Museum will ring in the anniversary year with four special exhibits: an early-model 911 Turbo Coupe, a 911 Cabriolet study from 1981, a 1997 street version 911 GT1 and the pre-series Type 754 T7. This chassis by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was a milestone on the way to the 911 design.

I have been thinking about this more. I am surprised that Porsche isn't selling a decal of some sort. I would love to stick the 911_50 logo on the deck lid of my car like they are on the new RSR.

Love the idea of celebrating 50 years of the Porsche 911 but am I the only one who thinks the "Tradition (colon) Future" is grammatically confusing? Maybe it's a German thing... I don't know.

I've always found Porsche's english language advertising, instructional manuals, technical documents, etc. to be rather poorly translated. I worked for them for nearly a year and it always floored me how some of the stuff they released to us (dealers) read. It was atrocious at times. So, it fits!

I like the engine badge or small side window sticker just like the engine badge.
