I have one that I took off a '74 Euro Carrera and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would fit on my '91 C2 Coupe?

There's no accounting for taste. :D

Yep it will fit, but you'll need the proper brackets that they used when they put the RSA tail in place or you'll need to make your own. I'll dig up some pics etc and you'll see what I mean. The mounting location for the 964's motorized decklid is wider than the mounting location on the early decklid.

I believe mine is a either an MA Shaw or Getty Design and like any fiberglass part it needed some attention but not bad by any stretch.

Here's a pic of the bracket you'll need (red arrow). I bought a used set of brackets and hardware from an RSA or Turbo (can't recall which). The original allen head mounting bolt location is the black arrow and you can see how far inset the new location is on the early style decklid.

The bits that I needed were the (2) brackets, the (4) bolts, nuts, washers, and spacer sleeves that mount the brackets to the original decklid arms. You can (barely) see (just below the black arrow) that the outer bolt head in flat to allow it to clear the engine opening. the spacers keep the bolts from crushing the original decklid arm as the nuts are tightened.

One other item is that the ground strap needs to be run up and out of the way tight to the arm (see ziptie) to avoid fraying and grounding to the ignition coils.

Here's a better pic of my duck - I have tried to pull some of the old into the new with my 964 for a somewhat retro feel without backdating. I think the ducktail REALLY compliments the lines of the 964 - plus the weight savings ain't bad either! Good luck in your quest!

I may have been unclear in my original post, but I have a fiberglass ducktail that I took off a '74 Euro Carrera I used to own and installed a metal one in its place.

The Lime Green should look great on my car. :eek:

Man Shamus makes this hard! I go back and forth whether I want to leave spoiler alone or not. The ducktail is the only one I am struggling to ignore...

h2ono- It would certainly differentiate your beauty along with the new mirrors...

Obviously I have shocks, (if I can find any for early 90), H & R Greens, (or whatever color now for street), to lower and some wheel work to do....

Grin - sorry about that! But hey, this is just a warm up on temptation for when you go to Rothsport and have to REALLY resist temptation (g).

Funny thing is, this summer I actually converted back to the powered spoiler since I couldn't decide which look I wanted. A good friend bought an SC and it had no tail so I started 'duck doubting'. Net result? While I love the look when the spoiler is down, the look when it's up just didn't rock my world, and frankly it's up most of the time when I'm driving the car so I put the duck back on. Just my preference.

Let me know if you want pics of duck vs no duck to add fuel to the fire via pm and I can get them to you. Either way the cars are beautiful!

That really sells me. The duck looks great on a 964.
