Question Widebody Kits on Ebay

Anyone have experience with these directly or through acquaintance? There seem to be multiple vendors selling the same parts. I'm contemplating ending up with a widebody through conversion or acquisition and ran across them:

Exoticdesign: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-C2-9...2ba944&vxp=mtr

xtrememotorcars: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...572490&vxp=mtr

Plus a couple others ...

If you want a wide body look, go for the factory look and notany tuners versions like Strosek etc. If you have the money also do it with steel fenders.

Kits like Strosek etc will turn your car into a ice cube the day you want to sell it. Just my opinion...

I like RWB conversions raul welt etc but I would never take the grinder to my arches. I hate doing mods that cannot be reversed easily without too much effort. If you buy a accident damaged 964 that has suffered rear fender damage then I can kinda of relate to this project cheap way to get car back on road with inferior fibre glass kits. But to butcher a standard 911 is crazy the car will only appeal to very very very few individuals out in the porsche world. I would only buy a conversion if it was dirt cheap and only to chop it up for the parts i.e (engine/box/heaters etc) the rest would be scrapped. This is my 2 cents but each to their own I guess. If this guy is a troll he has started the perfect thread !!

The thread should be Strosek kit, not wide body.

You all kill me. Troll ... I may not be a huge contributor, but hopefully my posts show otherwise.

I've just started doing some research and was curious about these kits assuming there was a common manufacturer that has something of a quality reputation. I hadn't found anything substantial via google.

There are a ton of simply awful conversions out there (including the tiny HID options by Strosek) but I didn't think the 993 headlight kit looked alright.

My absolute favorite is the RAUH-Welt look, but at $20K a pop that's not going to happen. FVD has a kit advertised as RSR GT -- a bit more old school, also cool.

Any suggestions where else to look?

Nite!

Ummm PORSCHE

If you are going to do it.... do it right and its about 30-40K P&L to do it right. Otherwise you might as well just give the car away to someone who will take care of it.

So the car is worth 20ish and will have 60 in it when you are done and it will be worth half.... maybe.

I could find much better ways to **** your money away than that.

If you want to make your car worth 10k then go ahead and buy some cheap *** fiberglass junk and glue those bits on! I am sure you can find a body guy who sniffed too many paint fumes to do it almost for free. Maybe you could put some Daytons with spinners on it.

I don't know why that sounds like a good idea?

I agree with using the factory steel.

I also understand the desire to do up a wide body, but it most certainly ain't cheap. Add in bumpers, rockers, suspension bits and....wheels(!!!), and one begins to question the sanity.

Exactly my point, you might as well just buy a Wide Body.

If you can't afford to do it right, don't do it. What you save on buying a cheap kit will cost you in bodywork to get it to fit properly.
