Thanks for the kind words gents, life is good!

This news has got me very excited as having worked for many years for Gordon on the McLaren F1 road and GTR race cars I know his car companies first car will be very special.

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/sup...new-sports-car

If it follows the formula he has used before it should be one of the best lightweight 'drivers car' ever built.

I can only dream of affording one

Great start to my work day this morning, got to have a good look around a NISMO works Japanese SUPER GT race car and chat with one of the lead engineers

Interestingly BMW, Mercedes, Audi DTM and Nissan, Honda, Lexus Super GT cars all share a common chassis tub and suspension corners to keep costs down, I'd never would have guessed it

To keep the competition close success ballast is added and if need be an air restrictor, just to mix it up a bit the last race of the season is a free for all with no equivalency limits

It looks more of a beast in the flesh than any picture, I'm not from the Play Station/XBox generation but do love a mean looking race car

Favorite part was it's got a roof and doesn't look like q 'flip'flop' as the look the new HALO gives this years F1/Formula E

I was lucky enough to have worked on a Super GT car a long time ago when this car won the 1996 championship

Also this 1997 car was still competing in 2005, a bit past its sell by date but still finished in the top half

Just seen this Singer test mule photo, it was cold -28C

Reminded me of these test mules from previous projects

When developing the McLaren F1 we used two mules,
The first was affectionately known as Albert, as the factory was on Albert Drive, it was based on an Ultima chassis and ran a big Chevy V8, was used to develop the suspension geometry

Then we had Albert which was also built on an Utima chassis but had the BMW V12 engine and development gearbox, a couple of mechanics clocked 185mph late one night on a local road

Probably the most interesting test mule I've worked on was this one, a Ferrari prototype allegedly built for Le Mans but not really for Le Mans, went like stink and very nearly caused a big stink

Have you done away with the ABS system? A lot to be saved there.

thanks Rob ... I have to admit I like ABS, especially in winter .. but for track use it's def better to remove it.

but to work towards a number the abs ecu and some pipes and wires .. is there more?
Can you remove the wheel speed side of the system ie the toothed ring?
