Unless promoting crime is your bag, buyers here please make sure your purchase of Cup mirrors is from someone who is not stealing the mirrors from cars that have them.

I would be leery of any seller who does not have a documented provenance for their Cup mirrors being sold on Craigslist or Ebay.

It is hard to imagine anyone other than someone installing RUF or other race mirrors or the owner of a wrecked vehicle having them for sale.

Best way is to keep your Flags!

Seems like spending $$ to make a classic car look more modern is as crazy as spending $$ to make a modern car look more classic.

Are flags that bad? It's not like they're D90s! Lol.

Good point, although I have never heard of anyone having theirs stolen anything is possible in this day and age.

Just a matter of preference. My C2 and turbo came with aero mirrors so I am just used to the look. I am building a 3.8 RS clone so it will need the aero mirrors to look the part but my wife says I am crazy.

I think she might be right.

So what you're saying is that the 964s that came equipped with aero mirrors are more modern than the ones that didnt?

I think is just personal preference. Just like wheels.

edit: looks like I got beaten to the chase

Guys, I was lighthearted in my post. Certainly didn't mean it as more than an opinion. I didn't realize the aero mirrors were stock on later 964s, thought it started on the 993. Frankly, I really like both. Certainly wouldn't pay $1,000 for aeros. Cheers,

Cheers,
I think they also came on the 928 and 968 in 1992.

All the models switched over by 92. The first run of 1992 928GTS's were sold as MY 93's but they had them as well.

Changing the bases over is a PITA. When I bought mine they were LHD. There is a "how to" tho, but its not easy.

I found these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-96...item1c3d6a0c1b

I also came across a company the refurbish car parts and make carbon fibre parts and the make Cup mirrors from carbon fibre, but you still need OE internals, so the are only the shell and base.
I can dig out the company's info if anyone wants it.

It's not like you're making your 964 look like a 997! Jeeze! It was available on the 964 for goodness sake! In my opinion, he flags make the car look entirely too dated!

If anyone is interested in a set of flags I have some in guards red. My car I can potentially have the resprayed in any color if you're interested.

So can you swap flags for OEM aero's without having to do any drilling/filling of holes? Just want to make sure before pulling the trigger on some aeros.

The fixing is the same, but the flags can leave creases in the paint where their base is square, which will show when the smaller base of the cups are fitted... take them off and clean the area to see.

Got it. Ok, well I don't think (in my current incarnation) that it will bug me very much. Will see if I can get the aero's period and then start worrying about creases in my paint. Sounds pretty aweful though; anyone here have pictures of what it actually looks like?
