How to install 993 door handles on early 911?
 

For those that have done the swap... if you can share details it would help me with my SC project and when I do the complete respray of my 964. I plan to install 993 door handles on both cars.

I think I just swapped locking tabs between the two cylinders.

Yup, to swap between 993 and 964 all you do is swap out the locking barels. Simple as that.

Im not sure if the earlier models are the same? The door handles themselves look the same, but dont know about the barrels.

That is what I thought... must be different for different models... plus I noticed that on the '81 SC I had two different door handle internals... something happened to that SC that needed a new door handle... anyway, replacing those anyway.

There is a small clip that has to come off on the inside of the door handle, inside the door panel, you want to be veryveryvery careful not to drop that into the door panel cavity......
