Here's a smoking deal (in my opinion) on a 993 C4S; combines the AWD benefits of the 964 C4 with the refinements of the 993. The options (heated sport seats, carbon bits, motor sound, etc), condition and mileage add tremendous value as well; and for mid to upper 40's much better buy than the two listed by the OP. Plus you get the turbo brakes/suspension to boot.

Yes, not to hijack this thread, but I'm running MY02 wheels with 32mm H&R hub-centric spacers on the rears only. My car is a 993 C4S with a black interior though...

Don't think the 993 drives 'better'. In fact I think saying that, is with all due respect a bit blasé.

The two drive differently. The multi-arm rear suspension of the 993 makes it more refined. Whether that's a good thing or not is a matter of opinion as to what your requirements are.

Does that make it 'better'? No. What is 'better' is a matter of opinion.

IMO the 964, it's more raw/ visceral and connected = suits my requirements. (Having said that I would love to do the 993 Evo front hubs on my 964.)

Bottom line - drive both and see which ticks your boxes.

I have 964 c2 just added 933 c2s a week ago.....I love 964 more now.
Engine response, suspension, design it's more raw and exciting.
933 is little too gentle and not as bold as 964.

What suspension is on the 993? Add some stage III's a few other bits (Golden Rod/SSK, RS engine mounts, Walrod Bushings, etc.) and it will transform the car.

At one time I'd have gone with the 993, but now I'm firmly in the 964 camp.
If I had a Wide body 964 already, I wouldn't say no to the 993 though.

I had exactly the same dilemma 3 years ago. Ended up buying a 993 and a 964. They are pretty different. Raw and refined being described is correct. I alternate between the 2 on daily basis.

2 different cars, 2 different experiences. Drive both, decide, buy.

thats a 2 years leap here.

its fun to see the prices.. 993 c2s and widebody 964 c4 for $55k...

today 1.5 year later the widebody c4 964 are about $60k so not as big of a gain as the c2 it seems.

You must have been focused on the hips...and not the color. Unless it was a PTS, the C2S was only available in Artic Silver given the MY97/98

I may know of a nice one (black/beige) that the owner is contemplating selling. Won't be cheap "today" but will be when looking back 2+ years and beyond. PM me if interested and I'll connect you to the Boston based owner.
