Default Where to get new CCU Denso rear fan?

Has anyone found a source to get a new Denso rear CCU fan ? 964.659.148.00 Paying $300 for a new one from Pelican etc seems like rape. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Greg - This is a good reference site for CCU diagnosis and repair.

Thanks Rob. I found that the other day, but like you said, first thing would be to buy new little fan or send out for total rebuild. I was hoping to find a cheap fan first. I need A/C in the garge like you, dying out there today. Way to humid.
I give up for today! Thanks again.

Greg,

Have you put 12vdc to the fan to check if it is indeed the fan and not the CCU?

Here's an interesting fix...

Sonnen has them listed for $205, which is only sexual assault or a TSA pat-down. I would suspect Sunset to be in the same ballpark.

Sunset is also 203.41 + shipping. I just pulled the trigger. The are available in the U.S. warehouse(s). (Don't need to wait for a u-boat from Germany) If an old rocket inguneer can't get it working, what chance do I have?

guess I will probably be doing the same. I have had mine apart 3 times and works for a while then sticks, it doesn't take much to get it going again. I have tried all kinds of things.

I took a 3/8" tube, put it up flush to the air intake on the CCU and blew to get it started once, but that makes me look like an idiot with a breathalyzer immobilizer.

Just for fun, I emailed Denso directly:

********
I am looking to buy a little fan that came from an automobile's climate control unit.
The Fan is marked:

173000-0410
12V 3L
DENSO
JAPAN

Can you help?
Thanks

Thank you for your interest in DENSO products and I'm sorry for the delay in replying to your request. Although DENSO is the manufacturer of that component, the after sales support is controlled by the Original equipment manufacturer, in your case Porsche, so you need to contact your local Porsche dealership. The Porsche part number is 964 659 148 00.

Laker,

I guess you were hoping for this reply , "

"oh yes, this is the same fan as we sold millions of across the Japanese market in the 80s and 90s, but for Porsche we stamped a special part number on the side so they could rape customers, but you can just order part XXYYY for a 1985 Accord for $35 at your local Pep Boys, its the exact same thing"

I was hoping to buy 10 of them directly from Denso, and set-up a group buy.... wise guy

but your comment got me thinking.... searching on eBay for Denso Climate fan found these.. one from a Land Rover and one from a Mercedes Benz. Both < $40

The Brass screws seem to be in the same place, and I bet one could make these work.
