The C4 tends to understeer a decent bit so the extra rubber up front does a world good in balancing the feel of the car I'd imagine.

Default tire pressure

Just had v12's installed on my '89 c4. Went with the 205's. Discovered installer inflated the tires to 50 pounds all around! Even so the ride felt smooth and very precise (no floating feeling) even at 60mph on rough asphalt. That wouldn't have been the case with the Bridgestone R760's that I had on before. Had those inflated to 36 all around which seems to be the standard. The inside tread wore out first due, I suppose, to the negative camber. What do you think is the best pressure for the v12's?

Jzc28...great question! I, also, would like an opinion on that one! Mine is a '94 C2.

If you go for 225 up front do you need to decrease the profile as well? Standard would be 205/50 so a 215 wide tyre would need to be a 215/45 and a 225 would be a 225/40??

Yeah I went for 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 works great.

Hey guys...I just installed HD's, H&R purple's, and ER rubber sport bushings, and Hankook V12's on my '94 C2...I am having a serious issue with the softness of the sidewall! If you throw the wheel side to side at, say, 40 mph, the car seriously waggles from side to side while maintaining a straight line.It does not turn in! We put a set of PS2's on, same wheels same size and the car handled on rails like a 911 should...i either got a bad batch of tires, or the performance of the car is too much for the tires..? The tires are great in a straight line or mellow driving, but when I drive the car the way it's meant to be driven ( maybe at 5/10's or so), she is scary! I have heard many positive comments about these tires, which is why I bought them. They were super cheap...now I think I know why.. Any and all thoughts, comments, or relatable stories needed! thank you!

Laguna Seca, my experience with the V12 is different than yours - here is my reliability story which is based on extreme use. I agree that PS2 would be one of the best tire choices out there. But I have been very happy with the V12 after really putting them to the test. I ran a 205/255 on 17 combo and abused them on the track (Limerock and Watkins Glen). Running hot tire pressure at 33psi front and 36psi rear the tires were very stable and surprisingly sticky for 16 HC (heat cycles). After 16 HC they suddenly lost almost all ability to grip and turned very greasy. So, for the dollar, a very good tire. By the way, I have no idea how many HC you could get out of the Michelin PS2, maybe someone else knows. I now run a different setup with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup (235/265 on 18) which are good for 30 HC plus (but a lot more expensive). Obviously the Cups are a completely different animal that loves the track but suck as street tires. The cups are also very sensitive on tire pressure (better be on the dollar at 32psi front and 34psi rear hot - or all hell breaks loose), which the Hankook V12's weren't.

S4magman...thank you for your time...while my '94 was in the shop last week, I was given a 2004 base model Boxter fitted with the same V12's that are on my car...it handled great! I am really stumped here. Is it possible that I got a "bad batch"? Maybe something else is wrong with my car..? Very strange! Thanks again for your input!

I would doubt it's only the tires...it sounds like a set-up issue....alignment, ride height, rake, corner weight, tire pressures, etc.

I agree. LS, what were the tire pressures on the PS2 you tried? What were the pressures on your V12s? Then, I suggest 33 front and 36 rear for the V12's although they are not that sensitive for street use (even with low pressure, 27 front and 29 rear cold, they felt fine). In my experience, aim to have a couple psi lower in front than rear.
