I need help figuring out a value on 1991 carrera 4
Ok this is a very tough one. I cant find very many comps so that I can come up with a fair value on this car. This is a white 1991 911 carrera 4. I believe that is a 964 designation. it is white with a black cabriolet top and black interior. It has 160+k miles
and does have inherent stuff wrong with it. has some oil leaks. cabriolet top needs to get re-aligned for the automatic top. cabriolet needs replacing sometime soon, some scratches on front bumper may or may not be able to rub it out. seats are torn and need to be fixed . needs new rotors etc Nothing major but these are the things that need addressing. It is in the shop today getting the bearings replaced on the fan that is connected to the alternator. I have had many things replaced that were high $ including the the oil lines that go through the rear passenger side of car, ignition, alternator,v belts in the last couple of years.
So this is where I am so far. I want to be very fair to the buyer, but I also want a fair price for the car. I am not certain if it may be worth more with or without the-- all wheel drive, cabriolet etc. please give me your honest opinion I would really appreciate it. please email me for a pic if that will help codymaltzman@yahoo.com
thank you , sincerely,

I would start adding up the cost to repair all of these items, then subtract that from the cost of a "perfect" 964. The value of a perfect 964 varies depending on your geography. Where are you? Have you looked at other cars? Have you had a pre-purchase inspection? What does your shop say? And remember to report back with your findings.
Good luck with your search for a 964.

I am in northern california sonoma county wine country. I havent had a pre purchase. I expect that someone will perform one when they get it check'd out. so what do you think a perfect 964 would value???? hard isnt it?

27-32K for a perfect which doesn't exist.
subtract for Cab and miles
add for C4
add or subtract for options and color white is okay net zero value though.
subtract for issues
subtact for damage
sounds like a mid teens car + or -

So if a perfect 964 is 32k that means super loow miles. and spotless.
cabriolet 3k
rotors 1k
oil leaks 1k
new seats 2k
mileage 10k
how about if I list it for 16k and take offers?????

I don't know, I haven't seen or drove the car but with the issues it has and miles it's probably in that neighborhood. 16 might be a little high but its somewhere to start.
buyers are weird and be weird about sometimes rediculous things. Like the torn seat. I am amazed that people will guage a car based on the seat ware alone, and even the tiniest oil leak scares the crap out of 911 buyers. Alot of times they are not that major but they could be and could get into major expenses.
Buyers generally always look at tires and never at brakes, wheels does it have the correct wheels. D90s or Cup wheels? Is it lowered. Is it unmolested or has mods tasteful or not?
weird little things will make big differences in how easy and how much a car will sell for.

For comps, I'd just browse the classifieds history here and at PelicanParts.com, eBay, Craigslist, etc. With the exception of eBay, you're not really sure of the exact sale price unless specifically posted before closing the thread, but I think it gives you a pretty good idea to answer your question.
Also, there's the 964 prices sticky thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...64-prices.html

16 and taking offers may be a low place to start. I would get the car cleaned up and make it presentable, get all the documentation in order and offer it at 20k. You havent had a PPI. If the PPI comes back strong, then your 16k is going to be way low.
That said, if I were a buyer, based on your description I would be bidding 10-12k. And I imagine you will sell for 15-16k in the end. But - Give yourself some time, and give the buyer all the information he needs to make a proper decision - if it's a good car, you will get a good price, and if it has problems, hold out for a fair price relative to other cars that have sold with similar issues.

I just want to chime in on a cab being 3k less than a coupe. I washed my car today, and the weather was beautiful. I was driving with the top up so it could dry. I dropped the top when it dried, and driving a Porsche on a beautiful day with the top down is priceless!!! I believe in the future, like most cars, when the top goes down the price goes up. F.W.I.W., that's just my two cents.
