yep blue leatherette/pinstripe interior , Peter Morgan inspected before i bought it last Nov (report available) , serviced last week , new front discs/pads/disc backing plates , x-over pipe , partial cill repair and wheels painted in black , £600. 110K , big file , genuine supersport verified by turbo look.de

Chaps. What is the general consensus on the state of the 964 market right now? Yes, there are cars with extremely high asking prices on the market but...they aren't selling. Eporsch now has 4 Guards Red 964s for sale, the first 2 of which have been on the market for 4+ months, if I am not mistaken.
This leads me to believe that, while prices have certainly risen in the last 12 months, they aren't quite as buoyant as some would have us believe.
I ask as someone who has an eye on selling in the new year once I've saved up the pennies for Lemass to work his magic on the bodywork.

Whether to have the bodywork done first is an interesting subject. I'm not sure of what it costs to have a proper job done but my guess is that you would only increase the value by the amount you spend on it. The paint/body is the only thing that lets mine down (it's a 30 footer). My guess is that £5K spent on the body would make it a standout C2 if it was then priced at £30K for sale. In which case I'd price it at £25K as it is and leave the buyer to decide if/how much they'd want to spend on the body. It would probably sell quicker that way.

I think the market is due for a re-adjustment. Traditional 964 owners had a different set of requirements than the new buyers. A collector is looking for low miles, originality, history, rare colours etc while the more adventurous buyer is looking for a fun weekend toy with performance upgrades and its these two types of cars that seem to be shifting. The 100+k milers that sit between these two groups and aren't properly sorted or with the right mods have priced themselves out of the market with their 30+k price tags, even well sorted relative high milers (135k) aren't shifting at 35 grand, neither are relative low milers (60k) that aren't in "collector" condition!
I would say realistic price for C2 100k milers in good condition & without mods is sub 30k but if you have an original mint sub 50k miles then price will be over 50k - nice clean one with mods will sit between the two at 40k-ish (depending on mods) .... naturally prices should be adjusted for higher miles, C4, colour etc.
There is also a case for luck - there is just too many GR cars on the market at the moment - I don't understand why sellers insist on saturating the market with more GR when the old ones haven't shifted yet. It was the same with 993 Turbo, they weren't shifting them at 100+ grand so why keep adding more cars to the showroom fleet. So if you have a GR to sell make sure you put it up for sale at the right time i.e. when market is not saturated with them.

I think there are signs that prices have plateauded for most classics and 964s.. I think currently realistic prices for good C2s with an engine rebuild and circa 100,000 miles is in the £30-35K ballpark, good C4's in same condition maybe £25-30K.. and the other variants under that. I'm talking about actual purchase price here. However it looks like interest rates are going to stay low for quite a while so don't be surprised if the classic car market picks up again soon.
