Wheels look spot on. I'll have to keep an eye out for you as you're just down the road.

Have you got many other mods planned for the car?

i was going to go for the 935 race mirrors (same as frank) but i do really like the cup mirrors so sticking with those.
Also provisionally bought some 993 handles from a kind rennlist member

Looking good Lemass, glad you've decided to keep the cup mirrors...Frank will have to listen out for me when he's on track as he won't see anything in his new dinky mirrors

Keep the updates and pics coming.....

I'm in Amersham but Parents-in-law lived down Rickmansworth lane for years so used to be over there a lot in my old baltic blue 964 C4 - not to mention in my much earlier years trekking to Winkers on a Thursday night!

I'll have to drop in sometime for a nose - didn't even know there was a bodyshop there

I guess it's kind of a cheat being on the 964 forum but used to own one and now have a modified 964 engine in the back of a 1985 911, that's my defence anyway.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...e-rebuild.html

After I had to sell my daily driver 964 about 5-6 years ago I fancied a lighter, simpler older 911 I could use as a second car so I could hotrod it and not worry about having to use it as a daily if it was off the road. Plus they go like stink with a 3.6 in the back!

Decided to pop to work this afternoon to start stripping the front end down.
Wings were a nightmare as usual due to the copious amounts of sealer over the joins and the bolt heads, glad its there though otherwise it would be pretty rusty.

Quite pleased the corrosion between the wings and scuttle is only on the surface.
Anyway some pics

The bolt behind the filler neck is the most annoying one to get too, it also has the most sealer over the top and when its 20 years old its pretty hard

bit of a leak here but think its just a degraded pipe so should be an easy fix

The ***** rolling now, need it ready for Lemans this year

Impressive work for a Sunday afternoon! All I did was lift a pint to my lips!

Amazing how rust can be lurking out of sight - were there any signs on the surface?

Yeah some large bubbles ont the front wings and scuttles. I was ready for holes when I removed the wings and mark took the screen out so I'm very pleased.
The underside is pretty sound so only welding at the moment is the left front wing support tab (connects to the support rod)

Tom,

looking good, love to see the welding as its done, please can you post up what you plan to do and when, before doing it?

Thanks,
Amrik. Why is it so hard typing after 3 pints!
