Seat "Upgrade"?

87+ 944 seats are exactly the same as the 964 seats. So no trouble bolting them in.
I haven't seen many folks talk about adding heat, which is also on my list. Doing it with factory parts seems to get outrageous very quickly. I haven't read a lot of review of the aftermarket versions.
I have a pair of 12-way seats (thanks Goughary!) that I want to add heat to and also look into making the backs more breathable/cool for the summer.

Do you want recliners?
If you do either go with the 996/boxster seats (oe look) or the recaro speed style seats (sparco make a v lightweight version).
The 996 sport seats are cheapest £500, second hand recaros are an option, a pair of the sparco version went for £200 on ebay recently, but there rare.
I allmost bought em for mine.
I fitted a pair of cobra misano,s in my car, they looked great but didnt suit my height.
Ended up with recaro PP,s cos there the best!
Weight, are you bothered?
The oe seats are v heavy, the sparcos are 5kg, nice and light.
Best advice is to try b4 you buy!
Your wellcome to try my seats.

Recliners would be best so that I can use the rear sears still. Not bothered about weight, just need to look different / newer style to the std 964 seats for me
996 seats are bargain prices, which is good as they will need a re-dye to Linen and the rears painted too

I sold mine for £500, as new condition.
And yeah they bolted straight in with the fitting kit supplied.
Bought them when i was on giddy money, cost didnt bother me at the time.
Paid £1200 for the pp,s with the fittings.
Mega money!
A mate of mine fitted 996 seats into his 64, only a little messin, look good.
Evil ebay is the only option, throw cheap bids in, u might get lucky.
Porschapart in ramsbottom may do you a trade, your seats + cash for 996 seats.
Worth a try.
He painted the backs same color as the car, nice.

Know what you mean about the sports seats. I've got the sports seat option and like the hold they offer, just fancy a more updated look

I remember this thread from a UK rennlister who fitted 996 seats. They looked really good but unfortunately he's taken down the photos:

However, I found a photo of them in another thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...?highlight=996
Not sure if I would go for the ruffled leather version in those pics though.

RUF seats?
Have you considered the Koenig K5000 seats? They were an option for RUF cars and also period correct for the 964. I believe RUF used then in the earlier BTR cars as well. I've never sat in them but people say they are very comfortable, they hold you in tight with the deep bolsters, they are reclinable, they don't weigh a ton and they also allow you to use a 5 pt. harness for racing. Pretty good combo I guess.. They look a bit bulky though but I think they are cool .
If I had a more track oriented car I would prefer Recaro PPs or 996 GT3 seats, which are almost the same. People say that to get that feeling of being connected to the car you really need a bucket seat. All that foam in the regular sport seats and the RUF seats takes away the feeling of being connected to the car. The foam makes it more difficult to feel how the car is behaiving and thus makes it a bit tougher to control on the track versus a racing shell. A bit OT perhaps since you are not looking for a track seat but worth mentioning in this context.
I for one think both the 996 seats and the 993 hard backs look out of place in a 964.

I had the sports option seats in my 964, and loved them to bits. So comfortable, and supportive (and heated!). I now have a 996T with comfort seats, which are nowhere as good. Have also been in a 996GT2 with sports (not buckets) and did not like them at all. Seemed to push my lower back forward too much.
996 GT3 buckets are good (if you don't need access to the rear).
Have also sat in 997 comfort (and 991 too), sports, and adaptive sports, none of which I thought as good as the 964 sports.
Unless you want something lighter, and can make do with fixed seats, my preference would be to stick with the 964 sports. Apart from 996 GT3 buckets, still the best seat I've sat in.
