Default Is this a 91 964?

Hey guys,

I am looking to buy a 964 or 993 coupe in the next few months. Can you guys confirm this is a 964. Best I could figure out is a 90 or 91. Am I right?

That is a 964 and judging from the flag mirrors, yea, it is a '89-91 car.

I'm not sure if the headlight washer option was available on all those years, but if it was only available on the latter years, then that might be able to narrow down the year some more.

If we knew if it was a Carrera 2 or Carrera 4, then we'd be able to tell you if it could possibly be an '89 or not, since the C2 didn't start till '90.

How could I tell if it's a C2? I see it occasionally in the same location.

Get a look at the little console in front of the shifter. If it has two ***** its a C4. If it's got one ****, it's a C2.

Cool, I'll check it out. Short of being able to afford a $30k+ 993, it seems a nice 964 is my only option. I see many 993 for less but they're tiptronic or convertibles. Or both.

89 C4s only have 1 **** (spoiler switch under the engine lid)

Badge on the engine cover would be the easiest way, but it looks to be debadged. Next would be the center console wing/PDAS switch piece. C2 = one **** in the center, C4 = two slightly smaller *****

C4

The C2 would only have one centered **** in this location.

freedman: I didn't know that fact, now I do!

I'd just grab the VIN off the pillar, which you can see though the windshield. Then you will know what it is and if you go far enough with that you can even know what opt it was equipted with.

Rear brake calipers on the 90-91 C2 cars are 2 piston, vs 4-piston (same size as fronts) for the rears on the C4 cars.
