To slick top or not to slick top that is the ??
So with all the craziness and not much going on my friend Pino has some down time at work with many customers backing out of projects and few collisions happening since nobody is out driving. He has a roof skin for a 964 that would remove my sunroof and offered me an opportunity to do the conversion to my C2 to keep his guys employed. The car is in great condition with only 62k miles and I am usually the purist that says leave well enough alone or only do mods that can be reversed on clean original cars but honestly who am I kidding. I kept my 3.0 IROC clone for 19 years saying I would never sell and did but that was to trade for my 94 turbo. Although I regret selling the 3.0 I would do it all over again for the turbo which I would never permanently modify. I don't plan on selling my cars ever (although I said that before) and my son will appreciate that one day. On another note I am finally getting my suspension sorted and my clutch started to slip so I need to drop the engine and while I am in there want to do a valve lash and who knows what else. So the car will be out of commission for a few weeks and Pino says he can have it done by July. Not like I am shy on cars to drive but have no place to go and don't think this is ending any time soon.
I am not a sunroof person although I always option every new car with one I rarely use them. Even my cayennes and macan with the pano roof rarely were opened. So I am considering taking the C2 down the modification path and considering going slick top. All you guys with the interior and body threads are breaking me down. LOL This would be done properly using all factory parts and pino can do this in his sleep. He is also a master at headliners and does an amazing job better than most I see and I defy anyone to tell if it is factory or not once he is done. So any naysayers out there? I am torn since it is such a young clean example and a rare 93 C2 but it has had paintwork so it is not all original and I really like the added headroom of my track car and love the lines of a slick top. The sunroof always ruined the lines of the car for me and I always loved the clean roof look.
I am concerned though that once i head down this path I might not stop there but what the heck. Although I say I will never sell what is the general opinion on value depreciation once I do this? Not that it matters but curious to others opinions.
Pino working his magic on a 356 headliner. You should have seen this wreck when it first came in.

NOOOOOOOO! Don't do it! Keep the car as-is and drive the heck out of it.

Do it! The best thing I did for my 993 it reduces weight and increases headroom. I can't wait to do it for my 964. I used the fennlane panel with great success but if I could get the roof skin I wouldn't hesitate. Hmm...maybe I should reach out to Pino to get in line...no must do suspension first!

Tough one. People loose their minds about cars that have been repaired in any way since the quality of repairs varies so widely. I am naturally very very uneasy with cars that have modifications like this, plus I personally think the sunroof is the greatest invention since sliced bread. Hilarious to me when I see longhood owners showing off their sunroofs and all others showing off their slicktops. The deciding factor for me would be having a new and perfect headliner. I have done full bare metal restos with my own two hands and the headliner is always the thing that makes me cry and pay someone. So having a new one is great.

Do it. Or if you don’t do it, he can do mine.
Sunroof delete is the only thing I am 100% on. WB is 50/50, as is color change.
I had a sunroof delete SC. I loved the look of it, and loved the headroom I got inside. Plus weight removal is always a plus.
