42k miles on a '89 964? That's a collector's car! Almoust a pity to use it...

Welcome,

That's a low mileage car... now drive her as much as you can

I thought it was slate grey until I saw 911Jetta's car again and now I'm confused. Is it seal grey (not sure they had that back then)?

For mods: she looks a little high. Dropping a bit wouldn't hurt in the looks department.

Welcome to Porsche ownership. Its almost unheard of to find an 89 with mileage that low. Just drive it and dont let her sit. A lot of good info in the DIY section and use the advanced search function. Im sure you can find your answers. Rennlist membership and Adrians book are the best money I have spent on Porsche ownership. This forum can spend your money in the blink of an eye if you let us

Nice to see a non standard color 964.

Welcome!

There are a couple members from the Toronto area. I also get up there on business now and then, so we'll have to make an opportunity to meet.

Thanks guys! She is slate grey. I will definitely drive her as much as I can.

Navaros911, I agree that she's riding a little high with the OEM suspension. Adrian mentions getting ROW springs as an option to lower the ride. Are they available? I don't want to add any harshness to the ride so that sounds like it might be a good option.

A popular combination is the H&R Greens with Bilstein struts... which lowers the height to ROW. It doesn't add too much harshness with the greens (reds are a bit harder). Also tires make a huge difference in the noise/harshness level. I had very very old Michelin PS2s, but with fresh Contis, its very quiet.

Passion 911,

I'm not sure if ROW springs are still available and if that's the answer.

There are plenty of options available for suspension, Bilstein HD on H&R springs seem to be popular and not too much $$$. Eiback seems to be used frequently as well. Most people seem to replace the shock and the spring at the same time. Check with a reputable mech or shop.

I have ROW setting and I will drop her a little more. It is lower than USA, but not low enough for my taste.

Oh, one more thing that I notice now that I'm typing away: use some polish on your tail pipe. It will make a difference and it's cheap.

Thanks! Yes, it seems that Bilstein HD and H&R are very popular. It's such a tough decision since everyone has their own personal preference for ride feel, etc. I did use Bilstein Sport and H&R Race on an M3 before and I found the ride a bit too harsh on our streets for my taste.

Great point about the tail pipe. I'm on it!

Hi Passion 911'

My C2 has been sporting the same OEM equipment/ride height as your car. It was really time to replace and update. So.... I'm picking it up end of the week from my mechanic who's installing new HD's and H&R greens.
It has been lowered down, not quite to RS height but substantially lower then the SUV height I have now.
I'm keen to feel how the ride has transformed from stock.
Will give you some comments after I pick her up
Cheers

Excellent! I look forward to getting your feedback. Our roads aren't that great because of the winters and budget issues so I'm hoping you can find a few roads like that to test too.

I remember how bad the roads are back home. Not to mention the 100k speed limits! There are a few good roads here!
