Default New rubber?

AD08?

Wot you reckon?

Iam after a fast road, twice a year track tyre.
Sizes 215.45.17 and 255.40.17.

Ive read good reviews on other car makes, but will they suit an old porka?

Currently on bridgestone so2,s a good solid tyre, only let me down on the track (overheated) and the odd lock up/slide in the cold.

The proper track tyres R888 ect; cost a lot with very little life and cant handle the poor uk wheather, wet and cold.

Thinkin out loud, thanks for imput .

Take a serious look at Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z-1s, it's a wonderful tire and very highly rated.

Also might want to run 225s up front...

The AD08's are outstanding, great steering response and initial turn-in.....I've been using them for 2 years...summer street use and autocrossing.
They are also lighter than Bridgestone RE11's, Hankook RS3's and Dunlop Star Specs in my sizes (205/55-225/50 - 16)

KaiB is right. You need to go to a 225/45 in order to keep the diameter as close as possible to the original 205/50 specification. Here's a useful calculator to show the effect of changing tyre dimensions:

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html

Nb. Also remember that the 225/45 will most likely lead to some tyre rub on lock.

Was worried about rub with 225,s but car isnt as low as yours steve so may go with em, they dont cost anymore than the 215,s.

Iam running bridge re070s on the bm track car (bought 2nd hand, cheap of ebay) i cant fault em, endless grip.
But they dont sell em in the Uk.

AD08 using on 964. Very Good grip on dry, not very bad on wet. Confidence when corning. Better than my Bridgestone POTENZA RE001 Adrenalin. But Yokohama is twice the price of Bridgestone.

However, One of our 964 friend still sliding and crashed on dry when using AD08. But it is his fault, "D" in tiptronic, too fast into corner and braking.

I have the Dunlop Star Specs on my FWD daily driver and they really do grip well in the dry, but you'll be lucky to get 10k miles out of a set. Their wet traction is suspect tho. I've had some scary moments on the highway w/ standing water, and as they wear down (currently past the wear bars), the moments just keep getting scarier, lol.
