The "Show yerself" Thread

We have all posted wonderful pics of our cars - they're far prettier than we.

Of all the folks here, I believe only Tallon has posted a pic of himself (probably because he's such a good looking boy) - and its high time we revealed our ugly mugs and bios.

No excuses, and no waiting for a "pretty" pic...

I'm Kai, an Env. Consultant, farmer, redneck and heretic - some might call me a Renaissance kind of fellow; I don't think so, I just do a lot of stuff. Anyway, here I am:

Kai - Great idea.

I'm Rob, trained as an aerospace engineer but currently working as a business operations manager for a large computer company (aka big blue). For the past 20 years, I've been an IT manager.

Not sure if the car had to be in the picture but as you can see it's not.... :D

Mats, 36 years old , swedish, engineer with product development as a base, now working for Outokumpu Stainless with high and ultrahigh strength stainless steels and applications for them, mainly in the automotive field but covering other applications aswell.

Another farking engineer...I almost took my chemE, but decided on medical school, got accepted, but at my later age made the wise decision not to.

I like to play in the dirt anyway!

falcor 06-21-2011 09:58 AM

Oooopps, forgot to mention that I make drugs for a living. Chemical Engineer. Yes, another engineer. Mr. Fix-It.
What did you realistically expect? I don't believe there will be many liberal-arts-gearheads in this bunch.

OK, I'll play.

The day I picked up my new (to me) '74 2.7. Completely un-molested with 32k on the clock, hasn't run since '77. I bought it in one piece, but now its in multiple pieces in my garage (judging by the condition of everything, I actually think it may have started, but didn't want to chance it before going through it all). Hope to drive it by the mid of July or so (waiting on parts from Germany!)

I'm recent grad, with a degree in Air Traffic Control (enroute) from a FAA sponsored program. Lucked into a pretty good gig in the auto industry for now, while I wait on a call from the FAA...(federal gov hiring...moves at a snail's pace, even with veteran's preference). No napping at work for me!!!

falcor 06-25-2011 03:53 AM

Hey, it's one of those came-after-the-964s, but except for a little bodywork and a rear suspension, what's really different? Anyway, from last week up at Thunderhill with my brother-in-law (who was in town, and had never been to a track before). Me in the yellow shirt. DE day, hopping in and out of cars so yeah I'm grimy at this point in the day. Glad Thunderhill has showers!

This also the job posting thread? Uh, nothing new to report here. Just being a bum in CA, helping some struggling folks out who have liquidity problems until my wife's done working and we head out of this state for good. No point in investing any money here long term and being stuck.

OK, I'm in. Early spring 2010, right after she was delivered to me from the Windy City.

Ghengis 06-26-2011 04:55 PM

It's a bit of a rogue's gallery this one but here's one of me with my son and heir at a recent PCGB event at Harewood House, Leeds.

I've been with a major US manufacturing company for 12 years, the last 8 as a Lab Analyst. In a previous life I was a Cabinet Maker hand making fine furniture.

Rob in Oz 06-26-2011 05:54 PM

OK - I'll play

Like Boxsey - I manage a lab full of expensive instruments, looking after water quality. Unfortunately I don't get to play with them any more - have to do staff, budget, marketing, strategy etc...:(

In the pic, I'm the one in the middle!

Cheers

Rob

Are you worried that it might soil your stellar reputation and respect on this forum?

Didn't see you pop in here the first look through. And you also get to see how your handiwork is holding up ~8 years later.
