Default The 432th Oil Change thread

Gentlemen, I plan to embark on the great oil change journey tomorrow, but just one thing is missing, Oil and Knowledge. One of these fine products I can do without (knowledge), but the oil I unfortunately cannot.

Therefore in an attempt to not read 20 articles on engine oil (even though I already have) what oil do you recommend, considering summer is around the corner here in New Jersey and temperatures are anywhere from mid 70's to high 90's.

Let the (fighting) discussions begin.

PS: I don't have a torque wrench, should I just tighten to a decent amount or pick up some 20 dollar one at Harbor freight?

Moffman, call ahead to see if any left. My local Autozone has been sold out for a few weeks. Of course I was part of the problem ;-)

The thanks goes to Laker who posted the deal on the Valvoline (except from my wife who wants to know why I just dropped $300.00 on motor oil!)

One Autozoner told me they will no longer carry it, another said sale is off today April 04 and another didnt even know it was $2.49 a quart and quickly bought the 10 quarts I left!!

Dino?? I thought synthetic was the way to go (see Excellence May 2011)

AND if its real racing oil it may not be good for your catalytic converter and will have a reduced oil change interval http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...AQs.aspx#FAQs1
which may indicate a lack of other additives

I'm just sayin....
