Hello all,

I've recently acquired a 1993 RS America with 22k miles. I would like to thank all on this forum along with the other forums here for being a fabulous source of information while I decided what air cooled 911 was best for me. I picked up the RSA in Alabama and drove it the 15 hours and 950 miles to my home in NJ. The evolution from 964 to my 997 is remarkable. A sports car as compared to a GT.

I'm already enjoying the 964 "experience" with a battery leak. Off to the shop tomorrow for a full 60k mile service.

Thanks again to all those posts I've read over the last 6 months that informed and entertained.

Beautiful car! At 22k, she's just a baby.
You've got a great car line up, I'd love to be able to jump back and forth from a 964 to a 997...it would be like time traveling! 911 all the way.
Good luck with the battery...I keep forgetting to check mine...

Great looking car!
Love the color combo

Check under the battery to make sure nothing rusted or caused any damage

Thanks to both. Nothing is rusted. The car is pretty much pristine. It's going in for a full service package (60k service) tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Congrats on the 964!

I also have a 2006 997 C2S and the difference in the cars is remarkable. Although, there is no denying they are close relatives in the styling department. You gotta love 12K mile/yearly oil changes in the 997. Plus they don't need spark plugs until 60K! On the downside, could 19" PS2s be any more expen$ive, or wear any faster?! I think not. First time I got in the 997 after a week in the 964, I pushed on the clutch and thought it was broken, it went to the floor so easily. lol

I drove my 997 daily for 3 years and by the end of that time, it had lost some of it's appeal. Difficult to get excited about a car you drive every single day, I suppose. Now with the 964 in the garage, that I only take out on nice days, I can hardly wait to drive it again!

The funny thing about my experience with the 964 is that I hated it when it came out. I was a kid in the 80's standing in the showroom drooling over the new 3.2 Carreras, with $59000 written on the windscreen in white shoe polish no less (remember that). When the 964 rolled out, I bought into all the media hype about the car being less desirable and it never appealed to me. Then I thought the 993 was the best car ever designed when it came out. By the time I could afford a new 911, it was the 997. Suddenly, the 964 was the sweet spot in the evolution of the 911 and I couldn't get my hands on one fast enough. I think in time, these cars will finally be appreciated for the fine machines they are.

Sorry for rambling...

Enjoy your new ride!

-Mark
