Default Good window tinting shop?? - Raleigh, NC

Hi all,

Moved to Raleigh and still need to get my 964's windows tinted - can anyone direct me to a good shop in the area?

Preferably one that has taken care of Porsche's before.

Thanks!!

Ironic, I just spent 4 hours removing all the PO's tint from all but my rear window. It was turning purple-ish and too dark to pass inspection.

Just a thought & my experience with tinting.

Cool, thanks!

I am just looking for a light tint job, to kick the interior temps down a notch in the summer, and to protect the interior to some degree. I would like quality materials though (3M?).

Good luck in Raleigh......I know a lot of great tint shops in Atlanta, but that would a bit far for you..

When did you decide to move from up north????

GoKart,
Welcome to the triangle! Yes, another 964 in the area!

I live in Carrboro (Chapel Hill)...not far away at all. Let's meet up sometime.

(new member) Gecko also lives in the Raleigh area....as well as tons of other Porschepiles. Lots of fun stuff to do around here...big cars & coffee weekends (Briarcreek), lots of fun roads, and of course one of the best tracks in the country, VIR!

Thanks brother - 'ppreciate it!

I will be heading down to ATL in a few weeks to see some family on the north side - not sure if I will bring the 964, but if I do, I will let you know!

We got serious about the move around October, and just got down here a few days ago! Very excited to be here. Let me know if you come up this way, Andrew - we'll go for a drive!

Thanks bud - I'm glad to have be here and to have my 964 here too! Love the roads in this area!

Definitely - we are in the early stages of settling in, but it won't be long before I'm ready to hook up w/ the local crowd - I will drop you a line shortly. And keep me in mind if you know of any events or anything coming up! Thanks for the welcome.

Anyone know what a good tint job with 3M tint should cost?

I got a quote today for 3M 35% tint, installed on my 964 C2 for $280.... seems like a lot, doesn't it?

I remember getting my windows tinted on a 4-door 3-series BMW a few years ago for $150.... any reason the job should be that much higher for fewer windows? More difficult to do on a 964, maybe?

Welcome to Raleigh

Check with Leith Porsche in Cary or European Performance about referring a shop for window tint.

http://www.europeanperformance.net/E...tic_parts.html

Be sure to check out the monthly Cars & Coffee at Brier Creek, 1st Saturday of the month.

John

Welcome to the Area GoKart. I am a tech at Leith Porsche and we typically use Pete and i believe the company name is Total Vehicle Preparation, does VERY good work.

Go Kart,
I'm interested in doing the same, let us know what the going rate is when you find out?
BTW, it looks like Total Vehicle Preparation is just around the corner from Saturday's Cars & Coffee.
I hope to be there, but the car is shop and might not be done in time...
