I need a DIY for change chain cover gaskets (and a few of questions..)
Hi guys,
I'm going to change chain cover gaskets and valve cover gaskets too, I know how to do valve cover operation but I don't know how I have to remove to work in the chain cover. Should I have to remove the bumper and the exhaust?
Chain cover gaskets and valve cover gaskets are 9,5 NM?
Should I use Loctite (special one for leaks) before putting the new gaskets?
Regards!.

Good luck. I did mine last winter. The passenger side was a PITA. Did it without dropping the engine, but it seemed like I had half of the car on the garage floor. After all that, still leaks and I can't tell from where.

Sorry, I had to remove the motor mounts and get the engine carrier out of the way while the jack was underneath the case.
I meant that I didn't drop (remove) the engine. Not sure I'm brave enough (yet) to do that in my garage with my tools.

You have to remove the engine carrier, no other way to get to all the nuts. Also, the engine carrier goes on over the AC mount, which has to get moved a little bit in order to get to the chain cover nuts behind it.

Unless your AC bracket has been modified, you cannot actually remove it without taking off the harmonic balancer - no need to do that though - if you take off the 6 nuts that hold on the AC bracket (see pics below) you can wiggle it out enough to get to the 2-3 nuts for the chain cover behind it on the passenger side.
I would put a jack stand underneath the engine while you have it suspended on just the jack and transmission, just in case your jack decides to fail and the entire weight of the engine is resting on the four studs holding it to the transmission and the transmission mounts.
Not a hard DIY, just take your time and take lots of pics so as to remember where everything goes - like alfred_hybrid said above, you end up with a lot of parts pulled off of the car.

Try checking to see if the case covers are cracked, mine was. If I hadn't caught it I would have still been leaking all over the place.
Cheers,
Ian

ian, the most difficult step for me is when I will have to remove the engine carrier, To do that I will have to remove the 4 screews that we can se in the first pic? and I have to separate the engine carrier from the engine mount, How could I do that? Could I send my email addres by PM and you could send me the pics that you've got?
Regards and thanks
