Default BILSTEIN, KW V3 or H&R???

Looking for some fresh advise....

I'm to update my suspension, new dampers and coils...

Question is what are your findings with the following options?

1. BILSTEIN B16 PSS9/10 Coilover suspension kit.
2. H&R Adjustable suspension kit.
3. KW Variant 3 Adjustable suspension kit.

It seems the Bilstein's are more expensive... is this justified?

Thanks

I´ve the H&R in my car since last summer. It is relativly cheap in germany (1350€). The coilover is good for may 100% road use. It allows realy low riding high. But it is also very stiff and hard. Under ~80kilometers per hour, the suspension is not existing. Abouve this speed, it is great. High speed corners on german autobahn are realy relaxed and easy.

I can´t say bad things about the coils, but there is space for an improvement.!

If money doesn´t matter, buy the KW.! It is said to be realy great.

Interesting thanks. Ideally I'd like some feedback on the other two also... bang for buck

I think the majority of UK users are likely to recommend KW's

They would appear to be the most popular and have been for a couple of years

H&R coilovers are rarely seen so its difficult to comment, though of course many use their springs and ARBs

I believe that PSS9/10s are a step on from Kw's but I'm only speaking from what Ive read, I have no first hand experience

You should try a few at the London meet?

Strega has KW's, and someone must have Bilsteins with H&R springs. Not PSS mind you but at least you will get to feel the differences between set ups

I think the first question should be "What is the upgraded suspension being used for, track, DE, auto X, street or a combination of all the above??"

Good point I'll check that at the next one... think my next move will probably be the FVD hotfilm kit though... as I'm not set on doing one or the other, I'd rather do the hotfilm first as it's less expensive and I can do that mod myself...

The car will be used on a combination of the above, I'm not looking thinking about comfort... I'm thinking about the best handling

KWV3 was the best upgrade I've had done to my car, full stop. Matt (he of the pink wheels) had PSS9. I had a good few goes in his car and the handling was great. I had the KWV3 put on after I'd tried his and think my car handles even better. However, the caveat to all this is that whatever suspension you go for the guys putting it on and doing the geo can make a real difference to how it performs.

I fitted my KWV3 myself and loved the feel and ride but was totally blown away when I finally had it geo'd to RS spec. It now inspires a lot of confidence. And makes me look like a total noob in it!!!!

Frank, those 18" wheels on your car look stunning but will kill your ride if you fit sports suspension, trust me! I went from 18's back to stock 17's and it feels the real deal now.

what are your objectives? track/road daily driver?

i have JIC Cross with springs about 400lb front and 650lb rear and use the car both track & street.

if your selections are really limited to those three options, i would go for the set with the stiffest springs.

btw what happened to the KW clubsport with your list?

I recently had H&R RSS-37-580 (Nürnberg setup) kit mounted. It is a hard ride on the street, and the comparison chart I made gives a hint why.

Strega you fitted them yourself?

I would love to fit them myself (quoted labor costs for fitment at my indy aren't funny) Is it realistic for me to attempt to fit them myself?

I have little to no mechanical experience but is it possible to fit them using systematic logic, I would install some sway bars while I'm there. I would have the tools, equipment at my disposal and a mechanically minded friend but am I asking to much of my own logic?!

When you say 'kill your ride', what do you mean exactly?

Thanks for the help

Yes.

I have limited experience and installed them myself without too many problems.

I posted a few threads on the front & rear installs with my experiences & a few minor frustrating problems.

In theory it is very easy ...
front = 4 bolts on top and 2 at the bottom
rear = 3 bolts on top and 1 at the bottom
