I got a price quote from a vendor on "a set of Bilstein HD shocks, front and rear, for a '93 Porsche 964 Carrera 2" --- the quote was really good, so now I'm concerned that these are not the right parts - can anyone confirm?

Well, I think you know how this goes, LOL... since you have it all apart - monoball mounts front & back, sways, drop-links, bushings. It gets scary just thinking about it.

Haha, yeah - been down this road with other cars, many times --- but with my 964, I'd like to leave everything as stock as possible, other than the Bilstein HD's and some H+R Sport's (green) --- what are the go-to parts when doing this install?

Automotion is doing a 20% off promotion for Pres Weekend for orders > $500. This is where I bought my Bilstein HD's a few months back when they had the same promo. I can't remember the exact price but it was close in the low $700's

You will likely need the bump stops as the ones I took off to install mine were no good. I do not remember whether the rears or fronts require the bump stops. Anything else like bolts, nuts, and washers are optional, but I chose to replace everything, including the upper mounts. I bought OEM from Porsche. Having a vice on bench helps with the work.

Nader, I think the fronts have internal bumps. They also come with dust boots. Some say that the rears do not come with dust boots and that bump stops must be hacked and reused (or buy new ones to hack). I'm unclear why they would have the fronts "ready to go" and the rears you need to buy things to make "right". Seems odd.

All: So my question is this...is it a fact that we must add a bump stops and dust boots or is this something that has sort of evolved over time? Any thoughts on why they wouldn't just have it nailed down out of the box?

Right about the rears not having dust boot and bump stop. I called Bilstein before install and they told me that the rears need bump stops. I installed the OEM bump stops as they came and so far no issues. I have seen discussion about altering the bump stops, but comparing Bilstein to shocks I removed, I saw no reason to change anything.
