Big Red Oil Light

I'm looking to exchange a "big red oil light" for the clock. Have any of guys done this? Figure it would be a great thing to have for the track should I lose oil pressure. Can you tell me what sensors are hooked up to the clock? I already have the air bag disable bridge installed. Hopefully that will take care of the bumper impact sensors that I believe are hooked up to the clock.

Thanks,

Dan

the car basically runs from the clock.

Well Jim, that's pretty disappointing. I was hoping for a fairly easy install.

Thanks,

Dan

I don't even look at my clock for fear that it will get pissed off at me and cause some type of electric anomaly that will make the car shut off....

I think the clock is the 2nd brain of the 964.

Ummm yeah, a lot seems to be connected to this clock, spoiler warning light, crash sensors, battery, lights, airbag sensors etc... I don't want to open a hornets nest for sake of oil pressure gauge.

There are plenty of cars that, when used on track, could give the owner benefit with a quick warning of low oil pressure. A 911 isn't one of them.

Ken, why is that?

It's a dry sump. I don't think there needs to be any further explanation. Sure, anything can run out of oil. But anyone not completely negligent isn't putting a 911 on track without checking oil level. And from that point, I think it's beyond extremely unlikely that you'd lose ~6 quarts without knowing it. If you lose an oil hose or something, I'll bet you've oiled down a tire and put yourself (and 15 or more of your closest followers on track) into a wall or gravel pit.

Regardless of some opinions I think a large low oil pressure light will be beneficial to me. If anyone has installed one please post or PM me.

Many thanks,

Dan
