HELLO,

please help this week just found out my c4 964 reverse gear has stopped working! when i put in reverse the car goes forward!

all other gears work fine with no noise, any ideas?

Of course we knew it was a manual, as there were no AWD tips until the 996 came along...........

So moving the gear lever over, it's not traveling past the 1-2 plane into the reverse plane. Pushing forward engages 1st. (Or 3rd or 5th!)

Not really sure where you are on the DIY chain, but I don't see the problem outside of it being the shift linkage. Just have to dig in there and see if anything is broken or out of place.

I agree, probably not such a scary job. Start by lifting the car, removing the long middle cover under the car, and looking around the shaft with a flashlight... If you don't know how it should look like take photos and post here
