Default Need help on Hall signal problem

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my 1989 964, it is showing fault code 34 which is the Hall signal, so according to the service manual I've check the wire to DME pin 30, 8, 31 and it is giving proper voltage and ground then i went ahead and replace the distributor, it solved the problem for only 10 minutes and the check engine came back on again, my concern is can bad spark plug wire, distributor cap & rotor trigger the fault code? or is there any other stuff i need to go over? please help me out.

Thanks
Albert

How fresh are your coils and spark plug wires? Old coils can cause all sorts of faults to be recorded. To check your spark plug wires, mist water into the engine compartment while the engine is idling. If you see sparks, then your wires need to be replaced.

In my experience it is 1)coils and rotors and caps firsts 2)Wires from the coils to the distributor second, and 3) plug wires but not likely. The first two are a couple hundred dollars and easy to do.
