Default identifying a "chip"

Hi All,
When I bought my 964 a few months ago I was told that a previous owner installed a "chip" to increase performance. He had no idea or info on what this chip is or what it really did to increase power.I've already replaced the "holy" air cleaner back to stock after hearing this made no difference & only added some sound. I've also read that some of the chips out there do nothing & can cause more problems than they are worth.

How can I identify this chip and is this something only found by hooking up to diagnostics?

Thanks much

alanP

The only way to identify which chip is in your car, is to take out the DME, open it up and have a look. THESE instructions are from Steve Wongs website, no affiliation...., who by the way makes one of the best chips out there, follow them and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the link & will open it up to find out what I have. The car runs scary strong but am curious to see what chip it might be.

I'm in delaware & bought the car from a guy in Pasadena MD.

I was going to look at that car but never got around to it, does it have a red interior?

Has the burgundy leather.

We agreed on a much lower price & it worked out ...fun car for sure.

so my paperwork states it is from Powerhaus during one of their upgrade packages including the MAF, test pipe, bored out throttle body, PH Performance EPROM etc. Anyone have any experience with these chips?
