Anti chip or anti stone paint - coat
I am looking into repainting my 91 C2 cabrio. It has a few scratches and a bit of rust onther the passenger side widnshield. No color change.
Have few questions:
1.- Is there any layer of coat or paint that I can add to protect the final result from minor scratches or chips form flying stones?
2.- What is the correct number and type of total lawer that must be aplyed?
3.- Any treatment I should do after finishing the painting job: polish, seal, wax, ...
Painting shop is good, but I prefer to know the best procedure before I talk to them.
Thanks a lot for the help.

I don't have any info on recommendable super-paints.
Instead, I'd recommend a clear bra application over a new paint job - just as if you were picking the car up new from the dealership.
Oh - to help others' recommendations, maybe you should state what color you'd be shooting. (A clear coat-covered metallic, or a single coat primary color)
Good luck.

Thanks for the recomendations. I am shooting to the same color as the car currentily has: which is original factory L37W Nightblue Pearl as can be seen in the picture.
Problem is that I know nothing about paints, and do not know what procedure or type of paint I should ask for, but i am sure that paints have evolve a lot since 1991.
Is Clear Bra such a good solution, better than coats like Teroson® Road Stone Anti-Chip Spray (see http://www.akd-tools.gr/xmsAssets/Fi...chip_spray.pdf) No bubbles, perfect fit, ....
Thanks again.

Clear bra application (it seems) would leave a far more uniform surface than that applied from a spray can.
Besides, if clear bras are good enough for the factory...
Another place to post your paint question would be in the 'Concours & Car Care' forum.
Those lads sometimes get into the thick of such discussions.

I've had some experience with a product called Armorcoat from a company called ArmorAuto in Minnesota. They have a web site (here) for contact details.
The product is sprayed on in place of the regular clearcoat - it's suggested something like 6 to 8 coats are applied only a few minutes apart. It's virtually indistinguishable from the regular clearcoat, albeit slightly "rubbery" to the touch. It resists stone chips pretty effectively but does add some complication if the panel has to be repainted since it's also pretty resistive to abrasive papers too!!
My experience with is was some years ago now so I don't know how they have progressed with it (if at all) but it might be worth checking out.

Have seen your article at http://www.computamedic.co.uk/Porsch...%20repaint.pdf.
How is the product performing after 4,5 years?

The application is a little specialised - the painter needed some practice before he was happy applying it. The little time between coats and the light covering for each seems the difficult bit to learn.

At the time I bought some I had a contact phone number in Montana (+1 406 728-5051) but the last time I e-mailed John Ryan (john@armorauto.com) I got no reply.
They did have an arrangement with a company in Germany where it was marketed as "Seidenfaust" - the contact was Richard Chamberlain on +49-89-903-56 38 but, again, the last time I spoke to him he confirmed that they were no longer selling the product. Whether that means the product is no longer manufactured or just sold through another outlet I'm afraid I don't know.
Hope that helps.
