When I did mine a few years back, I went to my local Auto store and bought a plug the right size so it clipped into the hole, for added leakproofing I put a small amount of silicone on the lip and voila, you are done for less than $1.00. Been in there for more than 2 years with no problems what so ever.
PS. I keep a spare one in the car, just in case.

I am a little curious...
When I do the delete, don't I have another hole in the rear panel, where the output shaft goes down to the motor?

Yes, there will be a hole in the plastic piece. What I did, as you can see in the picture I posted, was to get a piece of leather from our local "town cobbler" as similar as what's in there and glue it onto the plastic piece, thereby cover up the hole.
