Project Shrek: interior restoration
After 224K Kms, and very little in the way of cleaning (the PO was not interested in any form of cleaning agent it seems), the cashmere beige full leather was...past its best.
I lucked into a complete full leather black interior with sport seats (that I turned into full electric heated seats in another thread), and the complete carpet set. I had to carefully peel the carpet off the wreck, then remove the dried glue, then clean everything thoroughly.
I tackled it this week, and it was a bear of a job. there are some subtle differences between an '89 and a '91 C4. I had to modify the front kick panels, front part of the center tunnel covers.
To finish it off, I fitted the Carbon marcus shift lever and handbrake handle, coupled with grey Porsche Logo fabric gaiters. They look much lighter than they are on the pictures. Overall, it is a much nicer interior, no longer looking very dirty. It was worth the long hours.

To finish it off, I have these interior parts that are free for the price of postage to those who want them:
-rear window sills in black leather
-rear side panels in beige leather
-center console in beige leather, has a few marks and a small crack in the plastic core that can be reglued, but would be a great candidate for re-dying
-plastic doorsills, with plastic clips (most missing)
-rear seats in raffle leather. the backrests are in storage but available.
-I also have the door panels with leather pocket lids and handles, but they are only good for a re-dye project.
nothing of the above is mint, but for the price, I doubt there will be complaints...

Burning Brakes
Great transformation once again George. I am considering replacing my carpets over the winter so I'd be interested to hear how you removed the old glue as this is what puts me off doing the job!!

The glue that stayed in the car I wire brushed by hand, and vacuumed. What stayed on was glued over (not much in fact).
The glue on the carpets was like dried hard tree sap. I removed it by vacuuming the carpets with the hard plastic end of the shopvac tubing, which broke the glue into smaller fragments and aspirated them away. It was not an easy job.
if you get a new carpet set, then the work is minimal.
Now, nobody wants the spares listed above??
