You really don't need to baby it, Lil b. Just drive it and enjoy it until it's off to hibernate for the winter. Depending on where you are in the midwest, you might be close to where other P-car DIY owners are and set up with a weekend engine drop party. It's amazing what a little pizza (or brats) and beer can do to make new wrenching friends.

auspumpend: pumping out
Hosenanzug: ladys suit, two parts
Hmmm, are you female???
Better translation for "Pooping in my pants... Help":
"ich mach mir in die Hose, Hilfe"

That early car has the Freudenberg (sp?) DMF and was replaced in production with another brand called LUK.
I had your symptoms in my '91. (Can you hear it clunk when you hit the starter, clutch in) I considered engine
mounts too, because of the "thunk" when I'd turn it over. I replaced the Freudenberg with a used LUK unit and
it's been smooth sailing ever since. I think my '91 had around 35,000 miles at the time.

I also have a 1990 C4 Cab and when my clutch disc started to slip I changed to the RS lightweight flywheel. Love it!
My DMF was actually in pretty good shape as it was changed already in 2003 or something. It's just sitting in storage now. Do you think anybody here would want it for cheap?
