The rear cage is completed by welding the struts and adding in the horizontal braces.

Door bars finish off the job in the passenger compartment aside from welding the cage to the shell up the A- & B-posts. It is essential to have flexibility in the upper body structure in order to fit the roof panel, hence welding the tubes to the pillars will be done after the roof panel is fitted.

Here's Marc welding in the door bar & subsequently admiring his handiwork after the event. Welders would seldon win a fashion contest.

This was the state of play at close on Thursday last week. Marc had removed the remnants of the original roof panel and can be seen here preparing the rails to receive the new panel.

Leigh put the new non-sunroof panel on its back, removed the black factory e-coat from the joint areas that need welding, then sprayed them with weld-through primer. Note that we have removed the scuttle section from the new roof panel as we don't want to disturb the screen pillar joints.

Got back into work this morning & spotted that Marc obviously had a busy day on Friday....

Hence we are now working on fitting the new screen scuttle panel & the front strut reinforcements, more on this later.

LOL!!

Fantastic work, love this stuff. Used to do body work for a living so I know the skill involved in doing this stuff right. And the time. There is a huge reward, at least to me, in the creative process. Way to go Colin.
