Default Urgency to repair CV Boot Split

My front cv boot is split. What is the urgency to have it repaired? ie is all the grease instantly going to be lost in a few days of driving, or would it be ok to leave for say 2000 miles until the next service?

2000 mi is a long time. A few weeks or more wouldn,t worry me unless it was all on rainy days on a cross country trip.

I personally wouldn't drive it until the boot is repaired. I wouldn't worry too much about the loss of grease, although that is important. I would be more concerned about dust and dirt getting into the CV joint and destroying it. It doesn't take much dirt to do damage.

Do you know how long its been since the boot split? Perhaps its been split for a while. I would get it repaired as soon as you can.

No delay in replacing that since the grease gets quickly thrown out of the CV when its hot. Failure to do so results in buying a new CV joint.

Frayed, hanging remnants of duct tape on what's left of a CV boot are a fashion statement often seen.

Either fix it pronto, or throw in the towel and wait till you hear your axle going bad. It won't take long
