964/993 steering rack compatibility
I don't know if it's a question that anyone has asked, but I couldn't find a definite answer when I went looking. Steering rack went out on my 91 C4, and I needed a new one. Had a chance to pick up a good 993 rack for a song. Found a bunch of threads that a 93 rack should fit at least a c2, but no clear answer on a c4. So, I figured it was worth a shot. Well, after wrestling with replacing the rack today, I can say it fits, all the lines match up, and it seems to work just fine. Haven't driven it yet, but I can't see it not working. Supposedly it is a slightly quicker ratio, but I will be happy as long as it's not incredibly stiff. Will report after driving.

Worked great! Car felt great, everything lined up, and a little over a year later, no issues. My car was a bit of a hybrid though, had 993 knuckles, tie-rods, control arms and brakes. But I would see no reason why it wouldn't work with 964 stuff.
