OT: New daily driver
After 10 years and 160,000 miles, I'm going to be reluctantly getting rid of my A4 Avant.
Looking at:
2008 BMW 530xi
2008 MB E 350
Anyone have any experience one way or another with either of these cars?

Audi A6. I have the 3.0L FWD, but the 3.0 TFSI quattro is a great engine/drivetrain. Have had the A6 for 6 years, and love it.
Mods in my sig below.
In reality, the 964 is more my daily driver, and the A6 is now used mostly on weekends to ferry the wife and monsters.

Burning Brakes
My wife drives a 2007 530i (E60). Very nice riding car and hopefully better once the run flats are gone. Maybe paranoid, but spending time on the E60 board makes me very scared once the warranty runs out. So many electronics that can fail and at high cost.

I've been chewing on getting an A4 avant myself. I've heard nightmare stories though about the 1.8T - mainly sludge related ones. Is it all internet myth from idiots that never changed their oil and ran their engines hard without turbo timers?

My 1.8T was extremely reliable and I had only the usual issues (front control arms and some other little stuff). I used Royal Purple synthetic almost since new so no sludge problems.
Today I traded up to the 2008 A6 Quattro with the 3.2 and all the other bells and whistles. WOW, what a change....I'm in the lap of luxury. I've got about 20k of factory warranty left. Now on to Audiworld to see what to look out for.
Thanks for the thoughtful replies, as always
