Default The Little things

Well I started a to do list and with much the forum's help I have finished my speaker replacement.
Here are some pics. of the speakers, I have a more complete photo log of the steps I will post here for the door components replacement.
I have also replace the headlightseals and a few other nominal checks and notes for future fixes.
I have also some pics of the 'small' iritations to fix, one soon to be the 'Carrera' badge. I ordered one today.

How did you secure your Infinity x-overs? I pretty much have the same Infinity ref setup and have yet to figure out how to secure those. Also, what did you do to secure the rear speaker grills?

Supark- I have only upgraded my speakers. I installed a set from the Reference Series by Infinity; the doors are a component set 5010cs I used a few parts from the kit to help use the OEM tweeter mount, I had to use the speaker mounting ring in the kit but other than that it mounted right in and the OEM grill snugs right on.
On the deck I used Infinity Reference plate speakers 6432CFP.
I am very pleased with the over all sound, so much I went ahead and ordered the Bluapunkt Hamburg MP68. I can't wait to get that in. The amp I have finally settled on a 4CH 50W Rockford Fosgate Amp (will have to look it back up to give you the number) which should fit nicely in the OEM amp's spot.

Jon A.- Still out thinking about the rear grills; I have been considering leaving them off (I kinda like the look) but it still seems unfinished with out them; so I am probably paint them then use foam tape around the inside edge of the grill so they will snug on to the speakers.
The crossovers I did the same thing. I used some 1" think foam rubber tape and wrapped one strip around the crossover then cut out a piece of foam rubber from a sleeping bag mat (about 1/2 thick) which would fit in the compartment made by the door pocket. I curved the square into the door pocket then as I lifted the pocket up to secure it to the door I lifted the crossover into position to rest snugly against the foam rubber and the door panel. There is space in there so the cross over is not encased with the foam rubber thus the space can "breath."
There is no rattling and the sound from the speakers is great. I really cant wait to get my head unit in now. The amp, well not looking forward to pulling the seat and patching the wiring for the new amp. -D²

Heat gun (hair dryer works in a pinch, with the "overboost" switch taped down ), fishing line, and goof off. Maybe some polishing compound to smooth out any imperfections it leaves behind (it probably will).

There are measurements/dimensions floating around out there IIRC that will help you mount your new emblem correctly. Can't help too much there though, after I took my old emblem off, I got so used to seeing it without that once I finally got the new one in the mail, I decided not to put it back on.

I used dental floss to "saw" off the letters, then sticky bits removal via goof off etc.

thanks for the Dental floss idea!!!

To replace the headlight seals you just need to remover the ring, remove the seal, replace with new, then button it back up with the ring. Philips and one screw at the base of the ring then you are done. -D²

Well hopefully this weekend I will be able to post pics of my new badge on the deck lid and my new head unit.
Then it is on to hunting down a short that keeps popping my R/R signal fuse. Any ideas are welcome. I do know that it will pop with the emergancy flasher switch as well so this kinda rules out my column switch assembly in my mind, I also took the light assembly out of the mix and it still pops. Sooo I get to go hunting now with my wiring diagram and meter. -D²
