Default My official hello thread - new to me C4 and recent BBS LM reps

I've been a lurker for a bit over a year now and had initially been thinking about a 996. After much agonizing and mind changing, I decided against the 996 because my obsessive mind can't deal with a car I'm constantly wondering is a ticking time bomb. Yes I'm sure it's overblown - just as vanos and rod bearing stories are overblown on my E46 M3 (one of the lowest maintenance cars I've owned), but the big difference is that BMW extended their drivetrain warranty to 100k miles on affected cars and was very transparent, whereas porsche decided to stay pretty tight lipped.

Anyways below is a pic of the car when I picked it up. Frumpy little chrome D90s but in otherwise beautiful condition considering it's a 1991. Black interior with little wear, 79k miles, 2 previous owners, leak free and runs beautifully. There's a little vibration ie "graunch" noise when the clutch is engaging in 1st that's not present in any other gear. I've guessing it's the older flywheel issue, which I'm not too concerned about - when the clutch is in need of replacement I'll just take care of both at the same time.

And here are new pics with a set of 18" staggered BBS LM replicas. They're wrapped in Kumho ASXs, 275s in rear and 235s in front and they're pretty damn noisy compared to the skinny little stock tires. I'm wondering if going to a less performance oriented tire will reduce noise..

Unfortunately the seller didn't remember. They're not too heavy - 50 lbs in front and 55 in rear with tires, so figure they're probably like 26-28 lbs a piece.

50 lbs for a wheel/tire combo is actually pretty heavy for 17 inchers. They do look good tho

They're 18s actually - just look small because of the design

It's partly because of the ENORMOUS wheel gap. This will be rectified soon - have a set of eibachs in the trunk of the M3 waiting for next week to install

Looks great! Glad they fit and everything worked out for you.

If you ever figure out who makes em, please share.

Yeah it's killin me - I looked all over the wheels and there are no manufacturer markings whatsoever. There's linea corse, but from what I've seen they only make 19" diameter reps..

I'm guessing they're made somewhere in asia as the front of the wheel has "JWL" on it - which is the japanese equivalent of TUV
