Car check, '79 slant.
Okay, guys need a little help.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1979-...#ht_5454wt_924
I'm very suspicious of the mileage vs. the price point. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You may want to post this to the 911 forum if you haven't already.
Yeah, the mileage is low. Thy talk more about turning your vehicle purchase into a vacation than they do the history of the vehicle. What paperwork does it have? Who did what I assume was a conversion? Why would they convert an example with only 5K miles?
My guess is that someone bought a 79, did the slant nose then drove it 5K miles since it was "reborn".
...but I'm just guessing.

Since they didn't make a cab in 1979, I would assume there was a reason for this one being converted. My guess would be a targa conversion, or an accident. It is very easy to put another speedo in the car, and you'd never know the difference. If you take the expense of converting a car to a slope nose and cab, on a car that is not as is not as desirable as a a later model 911, you have wonder what they are trying hide. You could find a 83 or newer actual cab with a slope conversion for the same price.

I like the look, but would rather have a factory made car. I first fell in love with the cabs in 84. It was published in a magazine... a white SC cab with the black stone guards in front of the rear tires. Loved it then, but wanted a few more creature comforts like ABS and airbags when we went looking for our car.
Still love the slant nose cars though.

This has to be a joke, this car is hideous..awful wheels and awful interior...I would not touch this with a 10-foot pole!

According to the VIN it started life as a Targa.

Am I seeing the same car as everyone else?
Turbo badge. NA motor... with no belt to the air pump?
No hoses going to the A/C pump?
Interior & wheels by... God knows what?
Even with with a 10 ft pole, I'd be afraid of pole-vaulting car cooties, off this one.
Spooky car.

Maybe a better post would be....
Does anyone know of a turbo-look, slantnose, cabriolet, at a reasonable price?
I'm trying to help a friend of mine. He isn't looking for a concours ready/ investment car, just a nice driver to take the family out on the weekends.

there were slant nose turbos....and there are turbo look cabs (like mine).....(aka wtl cab or america roadster)
there are 930 series flatnoses....like this turbo, which are expensive (this one about $80large but gorgeous)
http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/det...226/index.html
and cabs like this limited edition after market but at least reputeable gemballa.....uglier than the link you are showing
imo if you want a widebody cab.....early version 911 or 92 wtl cab (amer roadster)...the latter the best! forget the slantnose!! or move on to
sleeker 968 cab!!!

Raspberryroadster,
You're probably right. A slant conversion would no doubt be in order.
I see that Ray @ RPMsportscars has a car similar to yours.

P.S. I forwarded your pelican ad to that same friend last month.
