I thought our cars gearing would not allow for that top speed...

The most I got out of my 993, for example, in 6th gear, was around 170-172mph... this was sustained top speed for over 20 minutes... would not do more unles going downhill and with the wind in favor...

194 on a 964?? What mods in the car to achieve that?

It was in my RUF RCT EVO.

With some HP the 964 will haul the mail.....the frontal area is so small it just punches a little hole in the air...a NB car is not too wide so not a very draggy car at all....helps w/the underbody trays as well.

150+ on the back straight at Virginia International raceway. At the time only a B&B muffler on it. All stock other than that including rally suspension, and two people in it. It was about 40 degrees out, both windows down so pretty loud, and the car felt solid as a rock even during very heavy braking! She felt like she had a few more MPH to give as well.

Rare is it that mine does not see at least a short burst to 100 each time it is out. The car was made to cruise over 100 so this does not hurt it at all.

Not a question of hurting the car, it's a question of if it's worth it. Especially here. Specifically the Bay Area. One citation I've received in the past was for 70mph just after getting on the freeway (I-580 in Castro Valley, a wide open suburban 4 lane) at midnight on a deserted road. But there happened to be a CHP running radar (pre-laser days) at the underpass and he locked on me. So I pretty much stay in non-aggressive mode anywhere on the street.

168mph indicated on the clock. I know now that it is not really that speed but it was the point that I bottled out. Started getting thoughts about burst tyres and rolling end over end over end over end and that made me slow down.
Don't usually think about things like that but at maximum speed the penalty for something going wrong is so much more severe.
Funny thing is, next day I found a 2" nail in the rear tyre! If i'm going to do that again, i'll be checking my tyres FIRST!

N-GT on the Autobahn (honestly gov)
174 on the clock, but GPS went with 166 on a 10 min dash and that is all it had foot to metal / (wood) aka N-GT.
This must be the fastest as it has no carpet so pedal travel must be a further 2 or so mm. more than everything except Cup.
PS Off to Ring and Spa in only 12 days so happy to undertake any tests necessary to improve the technical content of this Forum!!!

Around here you know where you can get away with it. For short burst anyway. And it is relatively safe if you choose your times as the only one you will hurt is yourself.

Right before I changed my tires a few months ago I found that one of the tires had rotted and cracked almost the entire inside diameter of the tire. Not two weeks before that I hit about 120 and that crack had to be there. Scary.

I should add that my high speed run was on an unrestricted Autohabn in Germany, where we had good visibility & conditions, and had done a couple of laps to check out the road.

Car felt great at that speed; balanced, easily staying in just the one lane. Was slightly downhill too :-)

The factory called, seeing they can't do that with even a GT1 at Le mans....

148 mph while in pursuit of a couple of speed bikes. 20 minutes later, and already having slowed down to about half the speed, a trooper "pace clocked" me from over 500 yards back and 3 lanes away, and ticketed me for going allegedly 95 in a 55. Will let you know what happens at the court hearing, but I was surprised 40 over the limit wasn't a criminal offense. It should be easy to defeat, though, as 25 would've been more plausible, and my white 91 turbo with mod's kinda sticks out, so the trooper must have felt that he had to stick it in me (ouch!) with 40...
