new purchase, Pics

Just purchased 90 C2 Cab. Here are a few pics. Flew down to GA on Thursday, gentleman was kind enough to allow me to use his tags and registration to drive back. 700 miles of pure driving pleasure. Car has 90K and I think a valve adjustment is due. I had a 87 cab that I did a valve adjustment on, wasn't that bad but this one seems to look more difficult. For those who has done the valve adjustment on the 3.6 engine are there any tips to make the job easier?

Nice car, and nice wheels too. I think that brace should fold down though with the top down.

As far as I know prices are all over the place. I paid 18.5, but engine had total rebuild and new clutch only 16K miles ago. Seller faxed me copies of the invoices which were done at porsche dealer in Tennessee. I also contacted the dealer and was confirmed the work done. Considering the work which was done on the car, almost 16K worth, I'm alright with the price I paid.

Looks like a very nice 964. With the dealer engine rebuild you did very well price wise.

The valve adjustment is only more difficult because of the "stuff" you need to R&R to get to the valve covers...........

Underneath, no more working around the catalytic converter--you remove it. On the other side, oops, there's a secondary muffler that also need to be removed. Plus, you've got some spark plug wires down there that the 3.2L didn't have.

Up top, remove the air filter/cover, a/c compressor from the mount, and blower fan. Gives pretty easy access. And then there's that pesky power steering pump. Certainly not as bad as the 993s.

All in, you've got about an extra 1/2 hour of labor. Provided none of the exhaust side fasteners are corroded.

these cabs sure look much better without 3rd brakelight.....(ET was only installed on n.amer versions, ROW 964's & i believe 993's were lucky enough to escape this design failure).

Ryan360 07-10-2010 11:04 AM

that 3rd breaklight could save you from little ol'granny barreling down behind you on a stop light. LOL
