Need some help choosing tires/wheel combo
After cracking the Cup 1s I need some nice after market wheels so I can save the brand new Cup wheels.
Currently I have a standard setup of 7.0j 17" ET 55 with 205/50/17 Pirellis in front... and 9.0j 17" ET 55 with 255/40/17 in the rear with some 5mm spacers in the rear.
This is on a WTL body car. The front wheels don't fill the body too nice... it looks like there is a lot of space to get a wider stance. In the rear there is a little room to go wider, but there is already a 5mm spacer there. Everything on the car is standard and there is some understeer.
Now I'm thinking of the following:
Front: 7.0j 17" ET 49 with 225/45/17 Falken FK-452 tires
Rear: 9.5j 17" ET 52 with 265/40/17 Falken FK-452 tires OR 275/40/17 Falken FK-452 tires
Would this do the following?:
1/ The ET49 compared to the standard ET55 would push out the wheel to the outside of the car by 6mm (like I would have a 6mm spacer)?
2/ According to Auftragsnummer 964 225 front tires can be fitted with a 5mm spacer on original 7.0j wheels. So this should not be needed on these front wheels?
3/ Would the 275 tires be too wide in the rear? I do not want to roll the fenders, but can do away with the 5mm spacer.
4/ According to my calculations there is a tire diameter difference from the reference wheel/tire combo of 2.68% on the front and 3.64% or 4.41% for the 265 and the 275 tires in the rear. This would be fine considering the PDAS on the C4 has a 6% tolerance threshold. Am I right in this?
5/ Will the larger front tire do away with some of the understeer?
Looking for feedback here guys!
Here's a pic of the wheels I'm looking at:
