Default quick headlamp gasket question

Hey can somebody tell me whether part # 911 631 115 02 (the gasket underneath the headlight trim ring) is supposed to be a closed / continuous circle, or does it have a break?

One of mine came loose (it has a break). Upon inspection, the other one has a break too. Looking at the parts catalog, it looks like those are supposed to be "O" shaped?.?.?

Thanks...

closed. I took some thin black nylon thread and stitched a couple threads thru the ends and its stayed together for 5 years. I had bought new ones but never replaced it.

Both of mine are split, thought that's the way they were.

Mine are split also. Every once in a while an end starts creeping around the cover and starts waving in the wind. I'm goin to try your nylon thread tech. tip.

That's what I also used successfully. The seals appear to be extrusions that are bonded to form the correct diameter. I do not believe they are molded, so breakage at the joint is common (at least it is for me).
