Default Friday festivities

Well, my daughter turned 4 Monday, and her party is tomorrow. We plan to have a bouncy jumpy thing in the yard for kids to knock heads together, plus lots of sugar so they'll be so energetic they won't realize they knocked heads.

Sunday is the first of many (I hope) high school senior picture sessions. The girl for Sunday is a family friend, and I've taken her pictures on the beach the past 2 summers. this time she wants a field. Might still drag her to the beach; it just wouldn't be the same if we didn't

Other than that, not much going on. How about your plans for the weekend...

oh yeah- dropped my camera backpack yesterday, and broke the mount on my 24-70 lens. Gotta get it fixed, and find a rental for the next month. Dammit

964 got dropped off for a (rather overdue) safety recall yesterday. I got an '08 Boxster S as a courtesy car. Never driven one before - made sure I took it out for a decent run last night - and I really don't like it. I'm sure they're great cars - but they definitely don't do it for me.

Going to Newcastle over the weekend (600 mile round trip) to see a friend who moved to Miami 3 years ago but is back for a few weeks. I guess I now have the option of using the Boxster and keeping the miles down on my car (and not risking my slow coolant leak getting worse) - but I will almost certainly be using the turbo. I simply don't like the Boxster enough that I want to drive it 600 miles.

My big plans for the weekend is to get on my tractor and do 5 acres of mowing. At least its fun hot rodding around on the thing
I have been having battery problems on the TT. i looked in the records and the battery is almost 5 years old so guess its about done.
I drove the 964 to work today since I get off at 11:30. maybe I can get home before the daily summer monsoon rain hits! The TT got a good washng in the rain yesterday

Damn - that reminds me, the turbo is dirty. I haven't used it all week and had forgotten. Guess I know what I'm doing when I finish work today.

Geoff,

You BROKE your 24-70 mount? I hope it didn't damage the camera as well? ack. If it fell with the camera, I'd be tempted to send both out for a calibration for focus...

Sorry to hear that...

Vacationing in Paris right now and saw FOUR 964s today alone while wonderng the streets. I'm really been surprised that I've seen a 964 everyday so far. Ok there are millions of people here, but to see so many 964s has been great.

I'll see more tomorrow that's for sure, will be in Stuttgart by noon Saturday for a Porsche Museum visit. This time I'm taking my son (7) and his cousin (11), I can't wait to see their reaction...right now the are excited about thaking the TGV (train), wait till they see the cars and museum displays!

It seems I will be using the Boxster over the weekend after all. In 4 days, the coolant level in the turbo has gone from max to almost min without the car even being used - even though I've yet to see a pool of water under it. But it means I don't trust it to get me to Newcastle and back without serious coolant loss.

One more week or so in the desert 'til I can return home. At least I'll get one night in Vegas on the way out.
